About me
I'm Regina Castro, a UX Designer based in Germany with 5+ years of experience, particularly in B2B SaaS and web experiences aimed at technical audiences.
For my next role, I'm particularly interested in working on developer tools, AI-assisted interfaces, and/or accessibility-focused products.
I'm currently working as a web and digital experience designer at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, a global leader in life sciences and diagnostics, while pursuing my M.Sc. in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Siegen.
Before that, I was a UX designer at QuestionPro, a comprehensive survey and research software platform.
On my free time, I love reading (specially magical realism and literary fiction), working out and planning trips and concerts.
My current personal goals are to ace the B2 German exam, learn creative coding and walk the Camino de Santiago.
My background
As a daughter of an engineer dad who loves tech gadgets and an artistic mom who paints, knits and crafts, I've always been drawn to the intersection of design and technology.
As a kid I took drawing and painting classes, but I preferred to create collages and edit my photos in a pirated Photoshop on my family computer, or play with my Tumblr's design using HTML.
Later on, I studied Interactive Design and started my professional journey in multimedia design and motion graphics, before becoming a UX designer and researcher. Over time, my interest in building things (not just designing them) led me toward UI development.
I believe this blend of interests has allowed me to become quite comfortable across the entire product lifecycle, from research to concept to implementation.
What I'm looking for in my next role
I'm particularly interested in working on developer tools, AI-assisted interfaces, and accessibility-focused products that solve real user problems and have a positive impact on people's lives.
My pet peeves are:
- Building features without strategy
- Thinking of accessibility as an afterthought
- Over-reliance on static mockups over interactive prototypes
- Prioritizing fancy visuals and animation over user needs and performance
